About Realigned Athletics
Hi, I’m Samantha Robbins — founder of Realigned Athletics, Director of Sports Medicine at SUNY New Paltz, and former Director of Sports Performance and Athletic Training at Bard College.
I created Realigned Athletics because every day in the collegiate sports medicine and performance world I see injuries that didn’t start in college. They began years earlier when young athletes didn’t have the right movement foundation, strength development, or structured training in place.
Many of these injuries are preventable with the right education, preparation, and training strategies. That’s why I built Realigned Athletics: to help parents support their athlete’s long-term health, confidence, and performance before problems show up.
With a background in human performance, strength and conditioning, and athlete mindset development, I’ve seen how youth sports often separate physical training from mental and emotional development. Realigned Athletics exists to bring those two pieces back together — because strong bodies and strong minds are built together, not in isolation.
Our Mission — Empower Parents, Protect Athletes
Realigned Athletics exists to give sports parents clarity, confidence, and practical guidance. We help families:
- Build movement quality and confidence
- Support healthy strength development
- Reduce injury risk in youth athletes
- Understand age-appropriate training principles
- Navigate sports development without burnout
Unlike many quick-fix training programs, we focus on long-term athletic health, resilience, and sustainable performance. This is informed by both sports science and real clinical observation in the college setting — where the consequences of early training decisions become most visible.
Strong foundations protect future performance.
Why This Perspective Matters
Youth athletes face unique physical and developmental challenges:
- Children’s bones, muscles, and connective tissues are still growing and adapting as they train and compete.
- Overuse injuries are common when training intensity increases without proper conditioning.
- Injury prevention strategies that combine conditioning, strength, education, and functional training reduce injury risk.
In my role as a Director of Sports Medicine, I evaluate injuries that often should have been prevented years earlier — not just treated after they occur. That experience has shown me that strong, age-appropriate training and smart preparation are the keys to keeping young athletes healthy, active, and confident.
This perspective — grounded in clinical experience and performance coaching — is what shapes every training program and resource at Realigned Athletics.
